Friday Morning, 7:45

Good Morning! I know some are a bit worried because I didn't post last night. Just a quick post right now, then more later.

We had planned to spend the week in Shenzhen, visitng the orphanage and the city, but decided that we needed to make other plans. We got permission yesterday morning to leave the province and go to Guilin, a tourist city in the next province. So....we took the night train last night at 8:00, slept the night in a "soft sleeper" and arrived here at 7:00 this morning. We all slept well on the train. A soft sleeper has 4 beds, and the 4th was taken up by a 25ish guy from Scotland, who is here teaching English. He was a very nice guy, and we all enjoyed visiting. Even MinMin waved good-bye to him this morning when we left.

We are in the hotel now, waiting another hour or so to contact our guide from last year, Nancy, to get out and see some sights. She was a great guide, and knows that we are coming today. We are thinking that we would like to try to get MinMin's eyes tested for glasses today if they can be made while we are here this week. If we try to get them in the states, she will not be able to communicate with the doctor to tell him what she sees/doesn't see.

Update on yesterday soon.....

The train ride had to be pretty exciting for Janelle - even if she may not have shown it. She'll be amazed at how well she can see once she gets glasses... Hang in there - prayers your way. Marie

Glad you filled us in on your journey to Gulin! I wanted to tell you that once we left our 11 yr old daughter's home town and went to Guangzhou things got a little better. The trip was HARD because she was so sad but once we got into a new city it seemed as if she knew she had to rely on us for somethings. Just remember once you get home you will be on your own turf and have the love and support of your family and friends to help you. Janelle will have to depend on you for everything. Hope things go well on your visit to Gulin! Keep us posted and we will KEEP on PRAYING!

Glad to hear your train ride was good. Really looking forward to getting yesterday's update. I think MinMin will be amazed when she can see better. She probably doesn't even realize how strained her eyes are. Love you and praying without ceasing.

Glad to hear from you! I check your blog several times a day! Sounds like you made a good decision to leave. Distraction and a new place may be just the thing you all need. Hopefully, you will be able to get her eyes checked there. What a great idea! Eyesight is nothing to mess around with. Waiting for the day to see Min Min with a smile!
